I had a fractured medial sesamoid in my right foot last year. Actually, it ended up being broken in half when I finally got my surgery.
Anyway.
Because I had some preplanned trips and I really didn’t want to have to use crutches and wear a boot during those trips, I chose to wait a few weeks to get my foot surgery. During this waiting period, so that my injury wouldn’t get worse, my doctor told me he only wanted me wearing my running shoes or Oofos sandals.
“Oo what?” I asked.
“You’re a runner, and you don’t know about Oofos?”, he asked.
“No,” I replied.
“Well, they’re these shoes that help with foot, knee, and back pain. I’ll get a pair for you to try on.”
As he was gone, I thought, “Gosh. I hope they’re not ugly. And come to think of it, I have all three of those issues. This could be good! As long as they’re not ugly.” I do have my standards, after all.
He returned with a pair of Oofos sandals, and I tried them on. They felt pretty good, and they were actually pretty cute, but he didn’t have my size. Amazon did, so I ordered them because although I really love my running shoes, I’d rather not have to wear them all the time, and I really didn’t want to wear them to church for several weeks. That’s really not my style.
My Oofos sandals came in the mail, I tried them on, and I was instantly in love!
Which was a good thing since I now had to wear shoes ALL the time (except for sleeping and showering, of course), No barefoot walking at all. So…no barefoot walking in the house. That was a hard pill to swallow because I’m a barefoot-in-the-house, 100% of the time kind of girl. Like, the moment I step into the house, the shoes come off. And they stay off until I have to leave again.
So having to wear shoes in the house—all the time, well, that was a hard one.
When it started to get colder and sandal weather turned into no sandal weather, I looked to see if Oofos made a clog I could wear during the colder months because I loved my sandals so much!
And they did!
So I ordered them, and I LOVED them also!
Then when I started having my knee issue, I made sure either the clogs or the sandals (for indoors) were my shoe of choice whenever possible, and I really think they helped with my knee pain as we’re trying to figure this all out.
Since I’d been wearing my original pair of Oofos sandals religiously for several months, I figured they probably have a shelf life, like with running shoes, so I ordered a new pair. And the first time I put on that new pair, I knew I was right. It’s a good idea to replace these regularly, just like my running shoes.
Oofos also makes flip flop-like sandals, as well as slip on tennis shoes, and even boots. I’m not sure the boots are my thing, but those slip on tennis shoes are definitely tempting.
I might have to give them a try… 🤔
