Anyone who know me—even little bit—knows I LOVE chocolate! If a dessert doesn’t have chocolate in it, I really have to think about if it’s even worth eating. Most of the time, it’s not. And my chocolate-loving husband once said that a dessert had too much chocolate in it. I looked at him like he was temporarily insane. Too much chocolate? Not possible!
Here are some of my favorite chocolate indulgences:
Chocolate milk shakes: Any chocolate milkshake I enjoy HAS to be made with chocolate ice cream. Not vanilla ice cream with chocolate syrup mixed in. No negotiating there. A Wendy’s Chocolate Frosty is a favorite.
Turkey Hill Extreme Cookies ’n Cream light chocolate ice cream: When this ice cream goes on sale at Kroger, you can bet we stock up. And it does not taste like light ice cream. I promise!
Dove Dark Chocolate: These have been my go-to treat for several years. I used to not like dark chocolate, but these Dove squares of chocolatey goodness changed my mind. They’re not too dark, and one or two definitely curbs my chocolate cravings. I usually have a couple of bags in my nightstand drawer, and when I look super stressed, John makes sure I have plenty to get me through the stress.
Brownies with semi-sweet chocolate chips: Those added chocolate chips really make brownies even more delicious!
Dairy Queen’s Chocolate Extreme Blizzard made with chocolate ice cream: Sadly, all of the Dairy Queens by us don’t carry chocolate ice cream any more, and why on earth would you order a Chocolate Extreme Blizzard made with vanilla ice cream? It’s mind boggling…I know.
And my daily favorite indulgence—my craving conquering cocoa. I seriously look forward to this every. single. day. Seriously. A couple of years ago I found a low cal version of cocoa on the internet and tweaked it for my own taste and low calorie preferences. This might be a bit too “dark” for some, but you can tweak it for your own taste too. I’ve decreased the stevia and increased the cocoa over time. And this simple chocolatey drink has been a life saver—it really helps me get over those cravings that hit pretty much each day all year long. Yes, I have my daily cocoa fix even in the hot humid Georgia summers. And while the recipe below is for a single, I actually drink a double every day. 😉
I strongly believe sharing is caring, so here’s my favorite recipe for cocoa:
Craving Conquering Cocoa
6 ounces hot water (I warm mine up in the microwave)
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
1 1/2 tablespoons stevia (or any other 0 calorie sweetener)
Vanilla to taste
Mix well and enjoy!

And since a cute mug makes cocoa taste even better, and since my sister is awesome, here are three mugs she’s sent me for my last three birthdays:
Year 1: Because I love pigs! I used to collect them.
Year 2: I was editing my first book around my birthday, so my sweet sis sent me this mug.
Year 3: Since I’m a new Grandma, this cute mug showed up in my mailbox on my birthday this year.
And here’s a mug I bought at Walmart that keeps my cocoa warm AND it’s spill proof. Which is a nice option for those of us who tend to knock things over by their computers a little too often. 😉
And here’s a collage of Tyson Kam sent me the day after we got home from Utah since I was really missing him. It has nothing to do with chocolate, but isn’t he the cutest thing ever?!?!?!
