Back in April (yes, I know that was almost three months ago…I actually forgot I’d written this post!) was the first, and definitely not the last, Whitney Jones Classic/Transform Show. Our part of the show—The Transform Show—showcased some of our transform people who chose to get on stage and share their transformation stories and successes with everyone in attendance. And it was a huge blessing to be able to work on the show from behind the scenes!
I also had the privilege of working closely with five amazing judges who could’ve brought huge egos to the show but who were the most down to earth, humble, and compassionate people around.
And I got to try Crumbl Cookies for the first time. Yum!!!
I got to interact with all the athletes, made many new friends, and spent time with Transform family friends who I only get to see once or twice a year.
Our athletes came with…
- Many different stories.
- Many different experiences, some heartbreaking.
- Many different things they had overcome or are working to overcome.
As far as their transformations go…
- Some lost 100+ lbs, some less.
- Some had more of a mental transformation.
- Some had both.
Either way, all were inspiring.
And there were tears…lots of tears.
And smiles…lots of smiles.
And so much inspiration and love for these people—some who I hardly knew before the show—that I often felt like my heart would burst!
And more courage than you could measure. Many of these people would never have dreamed of walking on a stage in front of their peers, friends, and family. And many were scared to death.
But they faced their fears, and they did it!
And though prepping for and then putting on the show took many, many hours, and I was totally exhausted when the show was over, it was so, so worth every single second.
I’m already looking forward to next year’s show, which will definitely be bigger and better. With even more tears and smiles.
So…if you have your own transformation goals, how can you get started on your own transformation journey? Here’s how:
- Keep a single, very simple promise.
- Eat less calories than you burn. It can really be that simple.
- Drink 1/2 your body weight in ounces of water every day. If that’s too much, then start small and increase gradually. You’ll get there!
- Work on what’s going on in your head…any pounds you want to lose will be the icing on the cake.
- Move a few minutes a day. Include both cardio and resistance training.
That’s all!
If doing all five is too overwhelming, start with one and go from there!
I also got to stay in the Powell’s casita that week, and I love how they always make me feel like a part of their family. And once the competition was over, a different type of fun began!
- I painted nails with Marley and Ruby (isn’t this confetti nail polish so fun?!?!).
- I got to be Ruby’s breakfast buddy during the week: “One pancake please with ONLY syrup.” Cash likes butter AND syrup on his. 😉
- Marley and I made a yummy No-Bake Greek Yogurt Peanut Butter Pie.
- I taught Matix how to repair his Vans with some quick whip sewing stitches.
- I got to participate in their family Easter traditions.
- And so much more!
It’s such a blessing to be able to work with people who are also like family—truly a blessing!
And I say this often, but I feel beyond blessed to get to work with so many other amazing people to help other people’s transformation dreams come true.
It’s life-changing for them.
And it’s definitely life-changing for me.
PS: Thank you, @thetransformapp and @veggielisa for the photos! 🙂
