I have a goal to post on my blog once a week. That seemed like an easy goal when I made it, but it’s turning out to be not so easy some weeks. So in order to not break the promise I made to myself, this week’s post is a mish mash of total randomness.
I’m in Utah with Kam and Steven waiting for our first grandbaby to be born. The little guy is controlling all of our lives right now! Kam’s 39 ½ weeks along and beyond ready to have this baby. It’s fun to watch his acrobatics in her tummy, and if this is any indication of how he’ll be when he FINALLY gets here, there will be no absence of fun, and probably a healthy dose of mischief. He’s already shown us that he’s shy, and he’ll stop moving if he hears me talking to him. And he loves chocolate! Whenever Kam eats chocolate, he gets extra wiggly. He’ll fit into our family just fine. 😉
Kam surprised me with a gift bag on my bed with this awesome shirt, a house key on a cute ribbon, and two of my favorites that I can only get in the west: A bag of chocolate covered cinnamon bears and two Utah Truffles. Yeah…we ate one yesterday. I was so excited! I definitely need to stock up on my Utah Truffles while I’m here. I eat one every Friday on my free-eating/cheat/reward day, and so my stash is almost gone.
Here’s a picture John sent me yesterday of our little Abby. Abby doesn’t think she’s a dog, never has. And she loves her mom. Whenever I go out of town, this is where she sits most of the day because she can see me come through the laundry room door when I get home. This picture made me very sad because I won’t be home for about 3 ½ weeks. And whenever she sees me with a suitcase, she becomes my little shadow because she knows I’m leaving. I took my suitcases upstairs a couple of weeks ago when she couldn’t see them.
I LOVE Southwest Airlines. Not only are they the most on-time airline I’ve ever flown on, but when there is an issue, they fix it very quickly. Their flight attendants are hilarious, and you get to choose a snack AND peanuts or pretzels, and then they come back around and offer you more. Their rewards program is pretty much the best out there too, which is super important since I see many more flights to Utah in my future. And they don’t charge you a fee to change a flight, and you get to check in two pieces of luggage for FREE, which is a lifesaver when you’re flying college kids back and forth to school. Or going on grandbaby duty for 4 weeks. Yeah…they’ve got my business, for sure.
I’m so thankful for the Internet that allows me to work wherever I can get a signal. I was able to work on the plane, which was a blessing since I’m still working on that huge work project, and I can work while I’m here in Utah, which allows me to be here longer!
And I’m so very thankful for my job! I work with the best team of people ever, and I’m able to be a tiny part of helping many, many people in some pretty amazing ways. It definitely keeps me on my toes and stretches me to learn new things, but I’ve always loved learning and I embrace new challenges. And this project we’re working on will literally help thousands and thousands of people achieve their health and fitness goals. I pretty much have my dream job, and I love it!
The Olympics will be over tomorrow, and that makes me very sad. It’s been so fun to watch them with Kam and Steven, and hopefully this baby will come soon to help us get through our Olympics withdrawal. Seriously, he looks like he’s doing his own Olympic events in her tummy!
Lastly…I’m so, so thankful for a husband who says, “Yes, honey, go to Utah for 4 weeks to help take care of Kam and our new grandbaby.” I don’t know of many guys who would be okay with that. He’ll be here in 3 weeks with Parker (they’re taking a cross-country road trip for Parker to come back to school), so it will be fun to help take care of our grandbaby for a few days together! I tell you, John has this magic hold that puts any baby in a trance. It’s awesome!
Enough random thoughts for now…hopefully next week will be a post about all-things new grandbaby!
