One of my friends recently helped me re-do my blog. I’d needed to do it for a long time, so I was grateful for her help! During the blog-redoing process, she asked if I wanted a logo at the top, and I thought, “Yes! Let’s do it!”
So we did.
I wanted my blog logo to be meaningful, kind of like a mission statement. My WHY. What’s important to me. How I’d like to live my life and serve those around me.
So I gave her the four basic words, and I love what she came up with!
Here’s what it means:
Learn…Always
I love to learn. Always have. Always will. That’s a certainty. I’ve also always been super curious, which is probably why I love learning so much because learning new things helps me to find answers for the things I’m curious about. I know I need to be continuously learning because it brings me so much joy and fulfillment AND so I can become the person I want to be. And for me, learning involves increasing my learning in all the areas of my life: spiritual (especially spiritual!), physical, mental, emotional, and intellectual. If I’m not learning, I’m not growing. I’m stagnant. I don’t do well with being stagnant.
Teach…Continuously
I’ve always loved to teach. I love the study that goes into preparing to teach, and I’ve even grown to enjoy the actual teaching part of sharing what I’ve learned and experienced with others. Teaching can also help me retain what I’m learning, in fact, studies have shown that when you share what you’ve learned with others—you teach them, you actually retain 90% of what you’ve learned. That’s a pretty awesome bonus of teaching! When I graduated with my Bachelor’s back in 2013, I actually considered going on to get my Master’s so I could teach English on the collegiate level. But…I know now that God had other plans for me, so now I teach in other, non-college-classroom ways. And I absolutely love it!
Live…Fully
I only get this one shot at this life. I want to get to the end of my life with as few regrets as possible, with as few “I should haves,” “I could haves,” or “I wish I would haves” as possible. So, I want to live this life as fully as possible, which means facing down FEARs (False Evidence Appearing Real), getting out of my comfort zone, and doing the things I’m prompted to do to live this life fully.
Love…Fiercely
Those two words pretty much say it all. Love God fiercely. Love my family fiercely. Love my friends fiercely. Love others fiercely. Show that love through my actions every. single. day. Fiercely. Because love is an action word.
So, that’s my logo and why it’s my logo. What’s your logo—the mission for your life? If you don’t have one, what would it be and why?
